Jacqueline holds a Masters in Human Learning and Performance from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Before her PhD position, she worked as a research assistant on using sensor technology to understand human physiological responses. She also has experiences teaching primary and secondary school students as a trained teacher.
Her primary research topic is the relationship between student characteristics and their engagement as well as achievement in open online higher education such as Massive Open Online Course (MOOCs). Her research aims to integrate the fields of educational psychology and technology to implement interventions on student characteristics in order to enhance the success rate of online learners. As a member of the Centre of Education and Learning, she collaborates with researchers from several universities and different disciplines. Jacqueline is member of the editorial board of the website Student Succes.
